Okay, this is rather late, but here's my take on the new(-ish) songs on the repackaged Super Junior album, A-Cha.
I had the post halfway done before I left for Seoul, and then other things were more important to write about.
Sorry. So let's get down to it.
"Oops!" is lots of fun! Love the answer-back formula used for this song. The tongue-in-cheek lyrics also make everything a little less serious. It is nice to see the boys let go, and just be the dorky boys that they are. Also loving the addition of f(X) - sassy!
"A Day". Ok, no, wait. The title sounds so much nicer in Korean. 하루에 (Haru-e). This song is beautiful - it moved my heart a little when I first heard and and have yet to figure out what the lyrics mean. Now, that's quite a feat. It means that they boys have managed to use their voices to express a song like that very well.
My favourite part of the song is the end - when the arrangement reaches a beautiful climax and then ends in an acapella of sorts. It may sound abrupt for a lot of other songs, but it works like magic on this one.
Leetuek writes very pretty ballads. Like "Andante". In the previous album, he co-wrote "All My Heart", which is my fav track off the album. "Andante" is like a slightly less full version of "All My Heart" - I suppose because this time, only K.R.Y. plus Donghae and Sungmin are featured in it. I still like this song very much - it shows that Leetuk is carving his own sound and maybe in the future he might just be the go-to for sweet, pretty ballads in K-pop.
P.S. He wrote a song for his reel wife, Kim Sora, and it sounds just as pretty. I think Leetuek's earnestness and innocence shines in his ballads. <3
So that's that. Whew. Four stylish, beautifully arranged tracks (including A-Cha) that gave the album an upgrade.
There's a significant improvement since the last two albums - and I love listening to muscial growth. Well done, SuJu, especially since you guys had a hand in writing and producing some of the tracks.
Now, on to the next wait - Super Show 4! *shriek*
